Suffolk Whole Hog (SWH) – Terms and Conditions
By registering and subsequently taking part in the 2026 Suffolk Whole Hog, the booking party and all associated participants within the booking (all of whom must read this document), agree to the following set of terms, conditions and assumptions.
Participants
- All participants take part at their own risk and concede that, in the absence of negligence, the organisers nor their suppliers, sponsors or supporters can be held liable for any accident, injury, damage, loss or other public liability caused/sustained before, during or after the event as a result of participation.
- The minimum age for participation is 16 years old (on the date of the race), there is no upper age limit.
- By taking part, all participants must satisfy themselves that they are in good physical health and of adequate fitness to complete the course. If participants are in doubt about their suitability owing to a medical condition, they should seek approval from their GP or Clinical Lead prior to participating.
- All medical information which may be pertinent to participant safety must be disclosed to the organisers when making a booking. Personal medication which may be required during the event, for example but not limited to, an asthma reliever inhaler or an epipen, should be carried by participants at all times (in a sealed waterproof bag) and, where possible, a spare set of medication lodged with the event first aid centre before participating. Participants should monitor their condition throughout the event, stopping all activity should they become unwell and seek help from the organisers.
- Participants should dress appropriately and will wear suitable training shoes at all times (studded shoes/boots are not to be worn). It is recommended to wear a long sleeved top, long sports trousers/leggings and gloves. Jewellery including rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces should not be worn. Sports watches, cameras (Go-Pro style) and glasses/sunglasses are permissible at the owner’s and wearer’s risk.
- Participants will not be allowed to participate and will be removed from the course if, at the sole discretion of the organisers, they are deemed to be intoxicated through alcohol or drugs.
- Participants may not take dogs, prams or mobility aids on the course (organisers are unable to store or caretake any items of this nature).
- Participants are encouraged to use this challenge event to fundraise for their chosen charity. If participants are not affiliated to a charity but would like to fundraise for the event’s Charity Partner, organisers will facilitate an introduction to the Charity Partner’s fundraising team. Fundraising is not a compulsory condition of participation.
The Course
- The course includes, but is not limited to, running, tackling military-style obstacles, crawling, jumping swinging, traversing nets, climbing walls, wading through stagnant water and carrying heavy objects.
- Participants can run, jog or walk and may bypass an obstacle if they find it too challenging.
- Obstacle Course Racing is considered an extreme sport, comprising significant physical challenge conducted in outdoor and wild environments, and thus carries inherent risks of personal injury and property damage.
- Whilst all care is taken to clear the course and to mitigate risks caused by the natural environment, due to the nature of the event, minor injuries are common and include, but are not limited to; scrapes, soreness, bruises, grazes, abrasions, cuts, sprains, strains, muscle injuries, nausea, dizziness, fainting, injuries caused by rock falls, insect bites/stings, poisonous plants and attacks by wildlife. More serious injuries are very uncommon but do occur.
- The course terrain may include, but is not limited to, metaled roads, concrete roadways footpaths, bridalways, long grass, short grass, loose gravel, stones, sand, mud, river beds, stagnant water, forest floor, tree stumps, brambles, ditches, potholes and uneven ground. The course is likely to be wet and slippery so care should be taken when moving through the course to avoid slips, trips and falls.
- Obstacles are of varying types and design. Care should be taken to identify the clearly marked route through an obstacle and when approaching or leaving an obstacle area.
- Some obstacles require participants to enter water. The ability to swim is not required to complete the course, but participants must be confident in water.
- The Suffolk Whole Hog is a mass-participation event, thus contact or collision with fellow participants is likely. Participants are responsible for their own actions.
Miscellaneous
- Race information packs and joining instructions will be sent to participants electronically, using the email address(es) given at the booking stage. Where applicable, race numbers, timing chips and merchandise should be collected on event day from race registration.
- The Suffolk Whole Hog is a safe space. Abusive/offensive/disrespectful language and/or behavious towards anyone at the event will not be tolerated. Perpetrators will be asked to leave immediately and will not be allowed to participate/will be removed from the course, and banned from future Whole Hog Races events.
- Car parking, bag drop, washing down and changing facilities are provided by the organisers but the organisers take no responsibility for any theft, material loss or damage to property arising from the use of these facilities.
- The organisers are committed to reducing their impact on the environment. Participants are required to cooperate with all environmental efforts and follow event signage to this effect.
- Participating in the event does not confer any rights (by implication or otherwise) on the participan to replicate, alter or use any of the logos, slogans or other intellectual property of Whole Hog Races.
- This event will be photographed and videoed. Any image captured may be subsequently used by Whole Hog Races and its affiliates for the purpose of legitimate business activity including advertising and social media marketing.
- Participants should familiarise themselves with the organiser’s Cancellation and Refund Policy.
